I have been a Family Law solicitor since 2003 and a lawyer mediator since 2014. I am registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board and undertake both private and legal aid work. Mediation promotes positive communication between participants and can help to minimise misunderstanding and conflict. With the focus on reaching fair solutions, mediation allows participants to remain in control of the decision making. In my experience mediation is more likely to produce lasting agreements and create better outcomes for children than court-imposed decisions. Furthermore, in my experience mediation tends to be a quicker and a less expensive way to resolve disputes versus traditional court litigation.
